Chris Schlemer, a.k.a “Schlem”, brings over 20+ years of bowling industry experience to his new position as Brand Manager for Roto Grip. From learning the trade of the pro shop business in local pro shops just outside of St. Louis in Illinois as a teenager, to working as Player Services (ball drilling) on the defunct PWBA in the late 90s. Schlem quickly gained respect in the industry and earned his first Tour Rep job with a small brand on the PWBA Tour in 2000. In May 2001, he was given the opportunity of a lifetime when he was hired as the Pro Tour Consultant for Storm Products Inc. to coach on all three professional tours at the time. The rest as they say is history. In his 10+ years as the SPI Tour Consultant Schlem was involved in many televised and non-televised bowling moments that are now part of bowling history. From helping Norm Duke capture the Grand Slam of professional bowling, to Wes Malott being named 2008 PBA Player of the Year, to Pete Weber claiming his record setting 5th U.S. Open title in 2012. To more recently being a part of Jason Belmonte becoming the first player to ever climb the ladder from the 5th spot at the 2014 USBC Masters which was also the first time the USBC Title was defended back to back years since the late Billy Welu did it back in 1964 & 1965.
Although his main focus is now on the Roto Grip brand, you will still catch him time to time on a PBA telecast helping coach the greatest players in the world. Or maybe, just maybe, you may catch him hanging out or coaching in a local center near you.
Schlem's motto: "Helping bowlers of all skill levels is what I do!"Email Chris
