"Storm Live" From Orlando...
2013 was a first for Storm Products when they rolled-out their newest interactive media piece, live-streaming from Bowl Expo, which is designed as a live-broadcast featuring the company’s latest news and technologies from right inside the Storm Booth.
This year, Storm is moving the bar higher during its’ second annual live-broadcast now called “Storm Live”. The new show format includes new faces with the addition of USBC and PBA Hall of Famer Nelson Burton, Jr. and ESPN and CBS bowling color analyst, Storm National Athlete and PBA Hall of Famer, Randy Pedersen. These bowling legends will be joined by “Live” anchor, and Director of Public Relations, Mike Flanagan.
Nelson "Bo" Burton, Jr. (born June 5, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri) is a professional ten-pin bowler and former longtime analyst for the Professional Bowlers Tour on ABC Television. He won his first title in Louisville, Kentucky, on August 20, 1964, at age 22. He was the 1970 PBA Player of the Year, leading the tour in average. Burton won major titles at the 1976 ABC Masters and the BPAA U.S. Open in 1978. Bo compiled 18 titles on the PBA Tour and earned $763,782.
In 1975, Burton became the color analyst on ABC's Saturday afternoon telecast, The Pro Bowlers Tour, working with veteran sportscaster Chris Schenkel. He replaced Billy Welu, who had died the previous year. Only 33 at the time, Burton also continued to compete on the PBA Tour, and would even make the TV finals in some events. Burton spent nearly 23 years (1975 to 1997) with ABC. From 1978 to 1997, he hosted a bowling Tip of the Week, usually after the second televised match. He and Schenkel were still working together when ABC ceased production of the series in June 1997.
After leaving ABC, Burton moved to ESPN and spent one year in 1998 providing analysis for select PBA broadcasts. He also was a commentator for the 1998 Women's College Bowling National Championship. He and former NBC bowling announcer Jay Randolph called the action on ESPN2.
Burton has resided in South Florida with his family since 2001. He has not bowled regularly on the PBA Tour since 1986.
Randy Pedersen (born 1962) is a professional bowler and color analyst for ESPN and CBS’s coverage of the PBA Tour. He works alongside play-by-play talent Mike Jakubowski. Pedersen grew up in Southern California, but relocated to Clermont, Florida in the early 1990s, where he has resided ever since. He has two children: a son, Chad and a daughter, Savannah.
As a bowler, Pedersen has won 13 PBA titles, with his last coming at age 40 in the 2002 Pepsi Open. That title pushed him over the $1 million career earnings mark, making him the 24th millionaire in PBA history at the time. Most dominant from the mid-1980s to early 1990s, Pedersen captured the prestigious PBA National Championship crown in 1987.
At the same time, he is also known for two of the worst breaks in PBA history. He lost both his tour exemption and a PBA Tournament of Champions match due to leaving one pin standing in the last frame on each of those occasions. He was ranked #35 on the PBA's 2008 list of 50 Greatest Players of the last 50 years.
Pedersen was elected to the PBA Hall of Fame in October, 2010, and was inducted with the 2011 class on January 22, 2011.
Randy joined the PBA50 Tour (formerly PBA Senior Tour) in 2013, and on May 16 of that year he won the very first tournament he entered, the PBA50 Dayton Classic.
Pedersen will not only be a featured guest on “Storm Live” but he will be conducting four 45-minute live “Product Showcase” segments focusing on Roto Grip’s new ball line launch, celebration of Storm and Roto Grip Athlete’s Championship wins, discussion about Storm’s bowling ball lines and Storm, Roto Grip and Masters accessories.
This year’s “Storm Live” will include a “Live Chat” so bowlers watching the broadcast can ask questions about products and Q&A’s for featured guests. Live Chat instructions will be made available during broadcast.
