NO SALUTE, NO PROBLEM AS INTERNATIONAL BOWLING MUSEUM AND HALL OF FAME RAISES $25,000, ELECTS NEW LEADERSHIP AT BOWL EXPO
ARLINGTON, Texas – While not as busy as usual, the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame still had an eventful week at International Bowl Expo in Orlando, Fla.
Even without the traditional Salute to Bowling this year, the IBM/FM still raised more than $25,000 through a combination of raffle tickets sales and generous donations from industry partners. The week concluded with the election of a new slate of officers for the 2014-15 season.
The annual raffle brought in $15,000 in profit after paying pro shop operator Mike Wolfe on his winning ticket. Another $5,000 was donated by former Bowling Proprietors Association of America president and new BPAA hall of famer Mike Ducat after he won BPAA's $25,000 raffle. The IBM/HF also received $5,000 from the National Association of Independent Resurfacers as one of several donations to several charities as part of the organization's dissolution.
“We would like to thank all of those attendees who purchased raffle tickets and especially want to express our appreciation to Mike Ducat and NAIR president Greg Pasidora for their generosity,” said outgoing IBM/HF president/chairman of the board Keith Hamilton.
Hamilton announced he was stepping down after serving three terms as president/chairman. Industry veteran Bob Gudorf, executive vice president of Classic Products Corp., was elected to replace Hamilton effective Aug. 1.
“It has been my extreme honor to serve such a great organization as the IBM/HF for so long,” Hamilton said. “I'm confident Bob will do a great job leading us into the immediate future.”
"I am truly honored and humbled to be put in such an important position within the industry," said Gudorf. "I will do my best to follow the legacy left by prior chairmen Pat Ciniello and Keith Hamilton, two stalwarts who have made major contributions to the hall of fame and the industry throughout their respective careers."
Joining Gudorf will be JOMA Corporation president and immediate BPAA past president Cathy DeSocio as vice president/vice chairman; Jeff Bojé of Bojé Enterprises as treasurer; Lori Mraz of Turbo Grips as secretary; and proprietor Mike Aulby, Storm Products president/chairman Bill Chrisman; and Wally Hall and Associates president Wally Hall as directors-at-large. All start their new terms Aug. 1.
