The United States Bowling Congress has eliminated virtually all of the split team/minors squads that had been scheduled at the 2015 USBC Open Championships in El Paso, Texas.
“A few months ago, we re-evaluated the schedule and the response to the combo squads, and we essentially eliminated that concept for the 2015 OC,” USBC spokesman Matt Cannizzaro said in a message.
Those split squads were to have been at 8:30 p.m., as I reported in this blog detailing the move to tiered pricing and new squad times of 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. for minors, 5 p.m. for team, and 8:30 p.m. that was to have been the mix of team and minors.
“With the exception of a few days we could not schedule around, the 8:30 pm squad will be EITHER team or DS,” Cannizzaro said. “With this, some days will have two team events and some will have just one, by design. It will basically be a rotation for the team events of 2-1-2-1, etc., to allow the extra DS squad the day after a two-team day.“
Cannizzaro said the capacities for each day have been adjusted in the tournament’s online registration system.
Somewhere along the line, I missed this change or it was not communicated to me. My apologies to anyone who was confused.
