Anchoring the Nomad™ series, the Rotary™ weight block made its way into the starting lineup for many tour players. Like Wes Malott, many PBA members love its strong, predictable motion across a variety of oil patterns.

In designing the Outlaw and Bandit, our goal was to create a completely new weight block shape which maximizes pin action, accomplished through increased energy transfer(testing showed an increase of 12% when compared with a traditional core design), and works for both rev dominant and speed dominant players alike. The new Caliber™ weight block does just that!

In addition, we created a new coverstock blend called Inception™ which proved itself right from the outset, hence the name. The surface topography showed Ra values up nearly 10% from previous blends. The highly polished Bandit and 2000-grit Outlaw both handle a variety of conditions ranging from a typical house shot to tough tournament action. When you're looking for "long and strong" pick the Bandit. The Outlaw will be there when you need an earlier, more predictable reaction.

Put it all together and you have two flawlessly-designed weapons that are a MUST for any arsenal!

So how exactly do we improve and expand upon already proven performance like that of the Infinite Theory?

Remember that ball motion is a culmination of the numerous factors like coverstock material, surface texture, porosity, weight block dynamics, layout, etc. When considering all of these variables, it is truly a technical feat to be able to balance all of these items and produce a bowling ball that meets the high standards you've come to associate with Roto Grip.

With the new Critical Theory, we are expanding the Theory series with its first pearl Insight™ coverstock. Designed to maximize dry lane traction, this shell will help increase your entry angle and sharpen your break point (CATS testing proved that the Critical Theory created the most entry angle in the entire product line), all in an effort to help you strike more! Its textured 4000-grit surface increases the Ra value, minimizes oil sensitivity, especially at the end of the oil pattern, and maximizes your bowling enjoyment.

Wrap the new textured pearl Insight cover around the high-torque, asymmetrical Triliptic core and you have some horsepower. Drill your new Critical Theory with your favorite layout, throw it at the dry boards to the outside, and watch it charge back with authority.

Starting at the center, the "GUTS", the new Paragon™ core features contours designed to help expand the RG planes of the ball. This unique elliptical shape defines predictability of axis migration and allows you to perfectly match up your ball reaction to the condition at hand. Strong midlane roll and a HUGE continuous, sweeping hook on the backend! This is a serious technological advancement.

Moving on to the shell, the "GRIT", we've developed a new MicroBite™ coverstock that is stronger and more textured than the competition. Microtechnology, the use of extremely-small structured additives down to a millionth of a meter, makes this possible. Our goal was to expand the Shield™ line and complement the Dark Star™, Riot™ and Mars™.

With products built on the premise of value and performance, the Shield line offers an array of choices, each with a distinct ball motion. From medium-dry lane conditions to medium-heavy, there is a ball in the Shield line that fits your needs.

The modern bowling environment can produce violent ball reactions with even mild reactive coverstocks like Sure Grip II™. Often we have high friction lane surfaces, short oil patterns and squeaky clean backends. While the Mars is a terrific choice for medium-dry conditions, power players and traditionalists alike demand even MORE control and predictability. Control the uncontrollable with our new Grenade!

Design

At Roto Grip® we pride ourselves in providing a complete line of bowling balls in both value and performance.

With a medium RG (2.58) and medium differential (.040), the Photon ™ core utilized in both the newly released Riot and Dark Star, is the perfect foundation for the new Grenade.

You know that the coverstock is critical to ball motion, so even when testing on a shorter oil pattern, even a milder version of Sure Grip II with the Photon core was too much. We decided to step it down a notch and go 'Old School' with the new Retrothane™ shell because predictable ball reaction never goes out of style!

By now you have probably experienced the tireless power of the original Theory™. With the intense Insight™ reactive coverstock and Triliptic™ core, the Theory hit the market and immediately made a huge impact. And with the prior success of the Cell™ series and original Nucleus™ core shape, it was clear that the Theory had some big shoes to fill.

With the solid Insight cover, the Theory created a tremendous amount of hook in oil. In fact, it was borderline criminal! But some bowlers were looking for a smoother glide through the heads with a strong motion through the pocket, so here is where the new Infinite Theory comes into play.

Design

You might recall the new Triliptic core helps the ball get into a roll easier due to the additional contours and elongation of the ellipses within the shape of the weight block. The Infinite Theory's triple elliptical shape creates consistent axis migration and predictable ball motion, a must for consistency.

Consider as well the resilient outer core which minimizes the energy absorption upon impact at the pins. What this means to you is that you are now getting more energy transfer from the ball to the pins, increasing your pin movement which ultimately results in more strikes.

In addition, the innovative Insight™ coverstock has expanded surface roughness while the Infinite Theory's hybrid blend gives you added versatility. RISING STAR™

Roto Grip® is committed to bringing you a wide variety of performance in the product line. When you throw Roto Grip know that you always get a tremendous value whether you choose a high-end Crown™ line ball like the wildly aggressive Theory™ or something more subtle and tame like that found in the Shield™ line.

Our intent with the new Rising Star was to create a ball that works well on medium-light oil patterns for bowlers of different skill levels and styles. With the benchmark-type symmetrical core shape, the original Dark Star™ was the cornerstone of the Shield line in 2010, and the new Rising Star will fit the same parameters and perform even better.

To increase total hook as compared with the Dark Star, the Ultimate Vision™ hybrid coverstock is a must for this new release. It creates a smooth glide through the heads with ample bite on the dry boards without being over-sensitive. And with a 1500-grit polished finish, the new Rising Star is sure to raise the bar.

A journey to the center of the ball will reveal the new Neutron™ core as the power source. The Neutron core's medium RG- medium differential shape is based on the concept started with the original Photon™ core utilized in the Dark Star. But you'll find an even lower RG and higher differential in the heavier weights. So look for more motion out of the Rising Star with all the benefits of a hybrid coverstock.

SHOOTING STAR™

Design

With the phenomenal success of the original Rising Star™, the Shooting Star™ must utilize the new Neutron™ core as the power source. It's just that good!

The Neutron core's medium RG- medium differential shape is based on the concept started with the original Photon™ core. But with the Neutron core, you'll find an even lower radius of gyration (RG) and higher differential in the heavier weights which hooks up heavy on the backend.

To increase the midlane roll and bring an earlier break point, we looked at a few different options. Testing the Ultimate Vision™ coverstock in a solid version produced the desired motion. Prepped with 2000-grit Abralon®, the Shooting Star created a break point that was two feet earlier and more rounded, or smoother. Controlling the pocket is often the key to higher scores. Shoot for higher scores with the new Shooting Star.

STAR ALLIANCE™

At Roto Grip, we rule the lanes, and we want you right there with us! As we designed the new Star Alliance, we considered first the core and then the coverstock. Some balls in the Royal line are built on a mild asymmetrical platform like the C.A.M. ™ core design to balance transition and entry angle. Since we are looking to maximize backend reaction, the more dynamic, proven Pinnacle™ core is just what the doctor ordered.

As you know, coverstocks can be either solids, pearls, or combinations of the two, also known as hybrids. Maximum flip calls for a pearl mixture and, when polished to a smooth 1500-grit, the Armor™ coverstock clears the heads with ease and allows for more reaction at a later break point. The Star Alliance's shell can easily be manipulated if you need to adjust the motion. It readily accepts your favorite surfacing pad or polish.
