Martez Banks, an Item Manager assigned to the 414 Supply Chain Management Squadron and a reservist assigned to the 419th Civil Engineer Squadron, Hill Air Force Base, UT used his Roto Grip Defiant Soul to bowl games of 267, 243, and 286 for a total of 796 earning him the high scratch series of the 89th Annual Utah State USBC BA Championship Bowling Tournament.
Banks used his Defiant Soul eight of nine games to finish 16th in Scratch All events. I used the Defiant Soul on both the fresh and breakdown and only moved about three boards the entire tournament. Once I changed my sights from dots to arrows it was just a matter of carry.
I credit my current resurgence to pro shop operator Brandon Smith and the staff at Bountiful Bowl. Brandon not only changed my pitches but introduced me to the Defiant Line as an experiment and we haven’t looked back. Additionally, I would like to thank the Storm Technical Staff, particularly Mike Sargent for providing comprehensible technical advice and explanation regarding ball characteristics and perceived reaction.
I am a bit REV challenged and prefer to roll up the boards and I usually have less than desirable results when I move inside; however, with the Defiant line (especially the Soul) I can play up the boards with precision, or a bit deeper (up to 7 boards) and watch the ball move to the pocket with an even and consistent, yet explosive reaction. The Defiant and Defiant Soul will be my primary weapons of choice for the fresh conditions at Nationals (mid-June), with the Lucid and IQ Pearl for the break down.
"Thanks to ROTOgrip I got SOUL :-)"
