This week (17-20 July) I was bowling the USA Las Vegas Team Championship and using the Edge I shot 260, 236, 300 for 796 and unofficially our team is sitting in second place $10000. I only used the Hyper Cell, Defiant Edge, and Uproar the entire four days and averaged over 240 for 24 games.

It has been about 9 months since I last threw a 300, but while my Mom was visiting for Christmas, I was able to finally do it again. This one was the most nervous I had ever been, because I wanted to do it in front of my mother. It had always been, I bowl a 300, and I then call her to tell her. This time, she got to see it for herself, and it meant so much to me to be able to do it for her, and end 2013 on such a high note.

Last week of summer league and I bowled 197,242,299. Bowled in a House that I only bowl in the summer. Local house doesn't have a summer league. And before I bowled that night I told myself that I wanted to bowl over a 700 series. But didn't know I was going to come close to my First ever 300 game.

On April 8, 2013, I bowled my first 300 and 700 series, 709. Thanks to my coach/pro-shop tech Joey Kendrick for suggesting the Defiant Edge and for starting me on Roto Grip equipment those 5 long years ago!
Defiant Edge = front 25 for Jodi Sabalauskas
Date: 3.28.2013 Bowler: Jodi Sabalauskas Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Pro Shop: North Star Pro Shop - Fairlawn, OH / Don Hogue
On 3/27/13 talented PA female bowler Jodi Sabalauskas showed up to bowl her usual Wed. Night Miller Classic league at Brunswick Playmor Bowl in Pittsburgh, PA. Little did she know she was about to accomplish something that is rarely done even today in the era of countless award scores. Already having rolled three 300 games this league season, she started quick with 300 game #4. It didn't stop there, she kept the Defiant Edge rolling strong and finished game two with another 300 game. Raising her total to five 300s on the season. But as fate would have it she sarted the last game with one strike before a pesky 7-pin ended her perfect night to that point. Although it didn't finish out like she had hoped, none the less she started with the front 25 for a personal best she will never forget!

I shot an 806 series with the Defiant Edge in a local 600 club tournament, featuring scores of 279, 269, and 258
"This ball gets down lane very well and makes a strong turn to the pocket when it comes off the pattern. This set was rolled on a 40' house pattern. The ball was at box finish, 1500 grit polished. This ball continues right through the pins. Does not quit!

Defiant Edge with out of box polished surface, drilled 45 x 5" x 35, no extra hole (pin above middle finger with CG below ring finger and PSA right of thumb. Third game with eight bowlers on the pair. The Defiant Edge is truly usable for all three games, excellent length with a positive move to the pocket late in the midlane with excellent continuation through the pins. Drilled by Joe Reguero at Impact Bowling Pro Shop, Sun City, Arizona.
"The Defiant Edge is one of the best and most useful bowling balls I've rolled in over 40 years of bowling."

It was October 13 1993 when I rolled my first sanctioned 300. Since then two 299's and three 290's. I thought I may never see 12 sanctioned stikes again, until today (11/25/2012) using a DEFIANT EDGE I was finally able to see what 300 feels like again! I am sure after today that it will not take another 19 years to get #3. ROTO GRIP RULES!

First 3 strikes flush in the pocket. 4th strike carried late 10 pin (ball burning up). Options to stay with ball or change to my Mutant Cell Pearl. Decided to stay with Defiant Edge and start moving one board left with feet for each frame. 5th and 6th strike flush. 7th strike, ball moved a little early causing a little heavy pocket hit but carrying the late 4 pin. 8th strike, made 2 board left move with my feet but tugged the ball in, hitting more oil volume and causing the ball to hit the pocket with a little fade but carried the late 10 pin. 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th strikes flush, breaking my 6 1/2 drought. Even better, I was wearing my Roto Grip shirt instead of my team shirt by mistake.

"A special thanks to Storm Staffer Ryan Shaffer for setting me up with this great ball, also to my driller Bob Leonard. This was my first honor game at what I consider my home house. Started here in juniors and 30+ years later I finally get my 300. Thank you Ryan, Bob,and Roto Grip!!!"
Defiant Edge Review - Staffer Mike Johnston
Date: 11.13.2012 Bowler: Mike Johnston Location: Hebron, Pro Shop:
The Defiant Edge with its peralized coverstock is a nice companion ball to the Defiant. I like this ball for the 39-foot house pattern I play on in league. I find with the pearl cover this ball goes 2-3 feet long through the heads then make a stronger more dramatic angle to the pocket. Having this extra continuous hooking power and motion on the back end allows me to play 4-5 boards deeper and open up the area. The Defiant Edge still had a nice predictable motion down the lane. In league play I am averaging 216 with this ball. The 1500 polished finish gives me the skid flip motion that I like on a house shot..
To achieve this reaction, I had my ball drilled with the pin below the fingers with the mass bias in the strong position. I added a weight hole as well.
As the night goes on and the Defiant begins to become more aggressive, I can move in and go deeper or switch to the Shooting Star.
For a speed dominate low rev player, this is a nice one to have in your arsenal and another great ball from Roto Grip and.

Staffer Review - Defiant Edge - Larry Hoffman
Date: 11.9.2012 Bowler: Larry Hoffman Location: Mesa, Arizona Pro Shop:
Ball layout is 3 inch pin below ring finger & CG out 1 inch W/X hole. As a senior LH stroker, I found the Defiant Edge a very smooth rolling ball with the same Paragon Core as the original Defiant. The solid of course has a much earlier break point. The Defiant Edge with the same layout, I can play 15 to the 6-8 area on a house shot and the pearl surface gives me extra room down lane to the pocket. The hitting power for such a smooth roll is fantastic.
After a 300-790 with my Shatter back in Oct. The following week I couldn't carry the corners so in the 8th frame of 2nd game I went to the Defiant Edge. Good choice as I finished with 17 Strikes in a row & another 300. I've been told that older lefties are known to be a little slow in making ball changes. - Larry Hoffman, RG Staff.
Roto Grip helping a young star emerge.... Defiant Edge!
Date: 11.7.2012 Bowler: Kassandra Sanchez Location: , New Mexico Pro Shop:
Last year using Rising Star, this rising star entered Dick Tanner Memorial in the under 164 women's category. She won shooting really well.
This year we re-entered her and she had just drilled a new Defiant Edge, Pin up basically stacked leverage weight. She averaged over 183 for the tournament. Shooting 201-220-203 for singles and setting her high mark of 634 that weekend.
Bottom line Kassandra won singles handicap, 3rd place AE handicap, and 1st place AE Scratch. Doubles 9th place with Joe Romero (he was hard to carry lol).

Just drilled up the new Defiant Edge on Wednesday. Shot 300 with it on Friday night. Ball make a sick move off the end of the pattern crushing the pocket and the pins. This is my new go to ball, no one plays near my line so I just follow the breakdown right. Hopefully many more honor scores this year. Thanks Roto Grip for the new amazing equipment.
Only a 298 but what a 298 it was with the Defiant Edge
Date: 10.17.2012 Bowler: Erick "Big E" Lownsberry Location: Florence, South Carolina Pro Shop: Adam Monks
July 25, 2012, my first sanctioned honor score, had the Definat Edge drilled to go along with my Defiant. I averaged 201 with the Defiant to start the summer and once I switched to the Defiant Edge at the end of the summer i got to 226. This ball is forgiving even when thrown wrong, but it does not forgive the pins. In my 298 game I tugged the last one, there is no forgiving that!
Staff Review - Daniel Skitt - DEFIANT EDGE

Defiant Edge for me allows me to really get inside on the pattern and open it up had no problem getting threw the heads and just pure backend off the spot doesent matter how much oil carry down there is this ball will get threw it no problem trust me. letting all you bowlers know now dont wait go out and drill one you wont be dissapointed
First sanctioned 300 with Defiant Edge...

Ball Speed: 16-17mph

PAP: 5 left 7/16 up
Degrees of Tilt: 17
Layout: 5 x 4 ½ x 2
The Defiant Edge is drilled pin above fingers and Preferred Spin Axis (mass bias) about 1 inch away from the thumb. The Defiant Edge has a similar roll to the original Defiant meaning real controllable and a lot of different kind of style of bowlers can use it. When you are using the Defiant for 1 or 2 games and you start seeing the Defiant not finishing you can go to the Defiant Edge and gets through the heads much cleaner and has a strong back end motion. It doesn’t have that sharp back end angle that you see in a lot of other pearl cover stocks, it is a little smoother which gives me more control during transition. I went to Las Vegas for a megabucks tournament and the pattern was a 36 foot pattern with a big volume of oil in the heads and the Defiant Edge gave me the best look when usually strong balls tend to be too much down lane when this ball kept me in play and was not flying off the back ends like other balls in its category usually does. I was able play in my comfort zone from the start and just ball down from there. If you have a Defiant you will like the Defiant Edge.

Staffer review of the Defiant Edge - John Brodersen
Date: 8.31.2012 Bowler: John Brodersen Location: , Montana Pro Shop: JB's Pro Shop
Ball specs – 15 lbs 0 oz, 3.31top weight, and 2 3/4-inch pin.
Using the dual angle method, the Defiant Edge was drilled with a 5 inch pin distance, 60 degree drill angle and a 30 degree VAL angle. Using Storm’s drilling methodology the layout is 5 X 4 3/4 X 2 3/8 pin buffer. An X-hole was not needed. The surface was left OOB which is 1500 polished.
The HP4 line Defiant Edge has the new Paragon core but with a little higher RG. It also has a polished pearl cover stock with a color scheme that resembles the pearl Cell. These changes are what make the Defiant Edge different from the original Defiant solid. I threw the Defiant Edge on a broken down 41 foot, 24 micro-liter house shot and had to start my targeting in around 22 to find some oil. When compared with a similarly drilled Defiant solid, the Defiant Edge was cleaner through the fronts and mid-lane (more skid and length) and had a stronger but very readable move off the friction on the backend. (The Defiant solid was reading too early and hitting flat.) The Defiant Edge also had great continuation through the pins. Hit and carry was very, very good considering where I was playing on the lane.
The Defiant Edge will be a great go to ball when your Defiant solid or other aggressive solid (Theory, Cell) is burning up and hitting flat.
