Resides in Dayton with his wife Jill and children, Mason and Madison. Brian was a highly-successful amateur bowler before joining the PBA in 2001. He won the 1997 and 1999 International Eliminator in Las Vegas worth $100,000 each and won the UAE (United Arab Emirates) Open — the highest-paying international amateur event. Brian was named 1999 Amateur Bowler of the Year by Bowlers Journal and enjoyed a 16-year amateur career where he made three ESPN telecasts while an amateur. Outside the lanes he spends his free time boating, playing golf and spending time with his children. Describes himself as "a great father and grandfather” as his oldest daughter Megan now has two children.
